  • Sonora Coffee is a mill situated in Hacienda Sonora, nestled at the base of the Poas Volcano in Costa Rica.

For more than 50 years, three generations of farmers have been working this land with their staunch belief in conservation and sustainability. Their unwavering dedication to processing their coffee and all aspects of their operation demonstrates their commitment to preserving the environment.

The mill specializes in producing high-quality coffee beans through sustainable farming methods. The volcanic soil, high altitude, and unique microclimate of the region combined with the skill of the farmers result in delicious and distinctive coffee. They prioritize conservation and efficiency using natural and honey processing methods for all their coffees. Despite being more time-consuming, these methods save a considerable amount of water compared to traditional washing methods. The farm operates solely on 100% renewable energy that is harvested on-site, reducing its footprint and dependence on fossil fuels. The energy generated even provides a portion of free electricity for some of the people who live and work on the farm.
