Kenya Othaya Kiaga
Africa & Arabia
The Kiaga Wet Mill, or factory, is located between the Rutene and Ruarai rivers in Nyeri County, a destination for those visiting Aberdare National Park and Mt. Kenya.
Farmers deliver their coffee cherry to Kiaga, where it’s pulped, fermented, and washed. The freshly-processed coffee seeds (aka coffee beans) are then dried slowly on raised beds before being transported to the Othaya dry mill.
Othaya Farmers Cooperative Society is an organization of 19 small wet mills. Many factors make Othaya extraordinary, such as strong social unity, a holistic approach to business management, and a progressive view towards quality control throughout the supply chain. The society has a nursery and a farm store to supply its members with inputs, equipment, and seedlings. Factory managers are routinely trained on best production practices, and farm management workshops are offered regularly.
We are proud of our partnerships with Atlas Coffee Importers and Othaya to bring excellent Kenyan coffees year after year.
